The existing context strongly influenced the design of the reconfiguation & renovation of two existing terraced houses into one dwelling. A steeply sloping site to the rear suggested inverting the traditional arrangement and placing the primary living spaces on the first floor to take advantage of the orientation and topography.

The front elevation simply mirrors the existing window configuration and presents a simple traditional facade to the streetscape. At the rear the facade opens to the garden in a more contemporary fashion.
